FIFA International Soccer is one of the first soccer simulations to use isometric projection, whereas most other soccer games at the time used a top view. The player controls the eleven soccer players of his team. Four players can play simultaneously, with each player controlling one or more soccer players. In practice, the player only controls his active football player. The other football players of the team are controlled by the computer.
In total you can choose from 48 countries. There is also an extra team called EA All Stars. Each team consists of 20 soccer players, where the player has to choose 11. The names of the players themselves are fictitious, although some are named after people who developed the game.
